Our March 2023 Member of the month is originally from Glasgow, Scotland, and might we add she has a very cute Scottish accent. We want to offer a big Ho’omaika’i ‘ana (congratulations) to Denise Bouey!
Denise has been a Maui Pilates Studio Ohana member since 2019, though her Pilates Journey goes further back when Or was teaching Pilates Mat classes at the YMCA. In fact, it was her Hanai sister, Bernie, or "Mama B" Freitas who recommended Pilates to Denise. Since starting her Pilates Journey Denise has noticed improvements in her flexibility and balance. “Both things I have never been that great with!”
Denise has been blessed to live on Maui with her husband Chris & kitty Rennie Mac for the past 9 years, and she has a job she is passionate about as the Community Support Manager at the Maui Humane Society. The Maui Humane Society is not only a place Denise fulfills her passion of working with animals, but also a place for personal and professional inspiration as Denise has a good boss, Nikki, who she looks up to. “I want to be as good a boss as she is when I grow up!”
Looking ahead, the future is bright with Denise hoping to visit Japan and spend more time at the beach and in the ocean.
