Our November 2021 Member of the Month fell in love with Maui 33 years ago when she came here on vacation. She loved it so much, she ended up staying here. She started her Pilates journey with Maui Pilates Studio in May 2019, and she loved Pilates so much, she's still here. We 'd like to congratulate Rhonda Ferrer!
Rhonda is an avid spinner, taking spin classes at least three times a week. Searching for a way to improve her upper body strength, she found Pilates, and we're so happy she did. Rhonda has noticed numerous positive changes since starting her Pilates journey with us: “My overall strength has improved tremendously. My posture has completely changed due to my Pilates practice. I used to feel self-conscious in a tank top. Not anymore, all because of Pilates. I've noticed that every Pilates movement uses the entire body from head to toe. The results: my strength and well-being feel quite amazing.”
Like any Pilates journey Rhonda faced some challenges along the way. “I broke my left elbow when I was 8 years old. I can only turn my left hand over half way. This has made some of the exercises challenging for me. With practice and guidance from Or, my left hand has adapted and gotten stronger. Another Pilates miracle!”
You might recognize Rhonda’s ad in the newspaper for tax services she offers. Back in 2008 her second husband convinced her to help him prepare taxes. In 2010, ‘Help Me Rhonda Inc’ was conceived and is still going strong to this day. Rhonda is the proud mother of two sons, now 28 and 31 years old, and the loving grandmother to two boys, 6 months and 3 years old. She lives in North Kihei with her boyfriend, Leland. Rhonda is an avid reader, love s to take walks, and keep s a positive attitude.
If you're considering starting your Pilates journey, Rhonda says, ”Start your journey no matter where you are in life. Pilates is for all ages and all body types. There are students in their 20's on up to in their 80’s in the Pilates classes I go to. Take good care of yourself, as much as you can. Your life depends on it!”
When Rhonda looks for inspiration, Rhonda turns to her first mother-in-law, “She was always encouraging and loved me like a daughter.”
We asked Rhonda what her future looks like for her. She answered, “It looks bright and exciting. I will be turning 62 in February of 2022. I take two Pilates classes per week, and when I'm not doing Pilates I'm on my Peleton bike, usually doing better than people half my age. One of the things I want to do in the near future is to go to Europe, before I turn 65 ".
Rhonda, we love you and we are so proud of how far you have come on your Pilates journey. We agree with
you. Your future does look bright and exciting! Congratulations!
